Abstract:
The ability of interrogating and controlling quantum matter relies on its interaction with light. As an example of the first task — the interrogation — I will discuss how quantum coherence signals extrapolated from fluorescence-based spectroscopic experiments can sense the dipolar interactions in a dilute thermal gas. As for the control, I will show how the quantum properties of entangled photon pairs can enhance two-photon absorption along a selected excitation pathway in the potentially congested spectrum of a matter system.
